Still

A place to keep the things that matter, private by default, stored locally, and fully yours.

01 -Overview
Still is a private space for thoughts, secrets, and ideas designed with calmness at its core. Every lens is encrypted end-to-end using modern cryptography, giving you ownership over what you store and who can access it.

I built it to feel quiet. The interface stays out of the way, leaving space for the things you've chosen to keep there. It's less about productivity noise, and more about creating a place that feels secure, personal, and still.

Demo interface, not part of the live app
So the first thing Still does is just ask for a password. That’s really it. No account, no email, nothing around it. You just land straight into this one field. You start typing your master password, confirm it once, and then hit create.
Everything from that point forward is tied to that password. Stored locally. Fully encrypted. Nothing leaves the device. It’s minimal, but that's kind of the point. Nothing extra. Nothing in the way.

Lenses
When you first open Still, there’s not much there. Just an empty space waiting for your first Lens. That’s usually where things start taking shape.
Lenses are created instantly as isolated encrypted containers, no backend coordination step
Maybe one for banking. One for work. One for personal stuff. Recovery keys. Servers. Whatever you find yourself reaching for often. After a while, you stop thinking about organization entirely. Things just end up where they make sense.
That’s really all a Lens is. A place for a specific part of your life.

Secrets
Once you create a Lens, you can start putting things inside it. Passwords. API keys. Recovery codes. Notes you don't want sitting in a random text file somewhere. As soon as something is saved, it appears right there in the list.
From that point on, interacting with it feels pretty direct. Reveal it when you need it. Copy it. Remove it.
Reveal and copy operate entirely client-side without re-fetching data
After a while, you stop thinking about the vault itself and just focus on the thing you came to get.

Types
Not everything you store is the same. Sometimes it's a password. Sometimes it's an API key. Sometimes it's just a note you don't want living somewhere else. The nice part is that they all fit into the same flow.
You're never really "configuring" anything. You're just choosing what something is and moving on.
As things get added, the Lens updates immediately. The count changes. Everything stays in sync. No refresh. No extra steps. It just keeps up with you.

Deletion
Deleting something doesn’t disappear immediately. It moves into a Recycle Bin first, so you can restore it later or permanently delete it when you're sure.
Locking the vault closes everything instantly. You're back at the unlock screen, and when you come back, everything is exactly where you left it. Same Lenses. Same secrets. Same structure. Nothing is lost unless you explicitly remove it.
The goal is simple: you should always feel in control of what's happening, without having to think about it.

02 -Features

Private by design. Still encrypts every secret before it ever leaves your device. Your data is protected with modern end-to-end cryptography designed to keep ownership where it belongs, with you.

Lenses for focused spaces. Instead of folders or collections, Still organizes information into lenses: quiet spaces built around a thought, project, memory, or part of your life. Each lens creates separation without complexity.

Calm, distraction-free interface. Still removes the visual noise common in productivity tools. The interface is intentionally minimal, allowing your thoughts, notes, and secrets to exist without pressure, clutter, or interruption.

Fast, local-feeling experience. Interactions feel immediate and lightweight. Encryption, organization, and retrieval happen seamlessly in the background, making privacy feel effortless rather than technical.

Built for permanence and trust. Every detail, from typography and spacing to cryptographic architecture, is designed to feel stable, quiet, and dependable over long-term use.

Every secret here is encrypted individually and stored only locally, actions like reveal, copy, and delete happen instantly without touching any server
03 -Privacy

The difference between Still and most encrypted products is that Still does not present privacy as a feature layer. Privacy is the foundation the entire experience is built upon.

End-to-end encrypted foundation

Still uses XChaCha20-Poly1305 encryption with per-item key derivation, ensuring every secret is independently protected. Encryption happens client-side before any data is stored or synced.

Password-derived security

Master keys are protected using Argon2id through libsodium, creating a hardened barrier against brute-force attacks while keeping authentication simple and local to the user.

Argon2id

Isolated secret derivation

Each encrypted item derives its own subkey from the master key, preventing relationships between secrets and reducing exposure in the unlikely event of compromise.

Stateless server model

The server never has access to plaintext content, encryption keys, or decrypted metadata. Still is architected so infrastructure can store data without being able to understand it.

Designed for quiet reliability

The system prioritizes clarity and resilience over unnecessary complexity. Rather than layering features endlessly, the architecture focuses on strong primitives, predictable behavior, and long-term maintainability.

04 -Note

I had too many passwords and secure notes that I didn't want to store online. So I decided to build the most secure local vault.

This is a minimal tool to serve it's purpose. Built with the best security possible to store everything without the need to worry about losing or forgetting anything.

— Built with too much coffee.

I originally built Still for myself, a quieter, more intentional place to keep things I cared about. Over time, it became something I relied on every day. I hope it becomes that for you too.
